Guy Dagenais
Guy Dagenais, better known as 'Geezer’, was born in Orleans, Ontario, August 8th, 1960.
I began my musical journey on drums at 16 years old but moved to guitar and then bass a short time later. I joined my first band (Wizard) at 18 as a bass player/vocalist, where I developed an interest in song writing since the band played a mix of originals and covers.
I am completely self-taught and performed commercially in various bands through the ‘80s. During that time I co-wrote & produced a 4 song EP with my 3rd band White Wyne, with whom I would perform for 5-6 years on a consistent basis playing covers in the Ottawa/Hull area.
In 1991 joined Blue Zinc , with whom I would compose record and perform for a little over 10 years. After three years we played nothing but originals and released our 1st CD in 2002 (self titled) and our 2nd in 2005 (Read Em & Weep). After my departure, the band continued working on their 3rd CD which featured many of songs I co-wrote.
In the winter of 1998, I performed on television for a folk group “The Courriers” for a muscular dystrophy telethon. It was my first and only TV appearance.
I have assembled, dabbled with and self-produced recordings since the mid-nineties at my home studio for a webpage called 'Guitar Wars' . All these pieces can be heard here . All the instruments were performed by yours truly.
In 2000 I co-wrote, arranged & produced a project related to guitarwar.com called “The Jon Broderick Project” which involved 57 guitarists in different capacities from all corners of the world. The project was done entirely over the internet and comprised 22 seperate productions intertwined into one 60 minute opera.
I was approached in the winter of 2001 by a local Prog-Rock band (Nathan Mahl) about recording bass for the 3rd album in their “Heretik” series. The 50 minute long piece was called "The Sentence" .
In 2005 until 2009 I became an official member of Nathan Mahl and within that time did some high profile live shows. From approx. 2007-2009 I co-wrote/produced Mahl's last album 'Exodus'.
After tying up some loose musical ends, I joined The Rebel Wheel in March 2010. Now I am able to dedicate 100% of my effort to this band and am enjoying the hard work ethic. Prior to my joining, I performed on the title track of the new CD (We Are In The Time Of Evil Clocks) "Evil Clocks Pt1" playing fretless solos over the quieter interludes as well as the 5 string groove.
